Learning the time has never been so much fun! The golden MiniLip, with its three colourful dials and playful design, is the ideal companion for children… and nostalgic adults!1969: The MiniLip, “It’s not a watch for pussies””It’s big (7mm) it’s wide (31mm). It’s heavy, it’s got three dials. It’s not a watch for pussies”. These were the words with which the Minilip was launched in 1969, in a mischievous advertisement. The Minilip introduced Lip to the world of educational watches specially designed for teaching children to tell the time. A niche market, since it was aimed at children aged around 6 to 8, it nonetheless concerned, for the year 1969, nearly 1.5 million potential wrists that could be covered by a watch.Lip, with more than 100 years of experience in Besançon, was to take up this challenge in the late 1960s, thinking up a watch that would make it easier to tell the time, adopting the Lip “leitmotiv” of the time, an affordable yet high-quality watch. In 2024, Lip brings this iconic watch back to life, with two variations almost identical to the original model. The modelThe 29 mm gold-plated and polished 316L stainless steel case houses the ingenious dial, which offers a very educational time reading on 3 circles. The first black circle indicates the afternoon hours from 1 p.m. to midnight (hence the dark color), while the second gold circle indicates the morning hours from midnight to midday (hence the gold color). These two circles can be read with the hour hand, which is red on the dial, and as a reminder, the numerals on the gold dial are also in red. As for the last central white circle, it displays the minutes in a very explicit way: “5” “10” “and a quarter”, “and a half”, “minus 20”, “minus a quarter”…just follow the golden hand for a simple reading. This little watch is perfect for the nostalgic or the little learner. Its red jacquard textile strap and black gold buckles match the case and dial perfectly, and will suit all wrists. This MiniLip has all the makings of a great watch!1969: The MiniLip, “It’s not a watch for pussies””It’s big (7mm) it’s wide (31mm). It’s heavy, it’s got three dials. It’s not a watch for pussies”.
