Discover the all-new Breitling Superocean 46 with the aesthetics of the original Slow Motion model from the 1960s. With a blue ceramic bi-directional bezel and a comfortable steel bracelet, this model is ideal for the adventurer of the seasThe little storyLet’s go back to the 1950s. Everything was accelerating, progress was taking hold in all industries, the standard of living in the majority of developed countries was rising, we were in the middle of the “Trente Glorieuses” period. Just like the Navitimer collection, which has recently been revamped, and its performance requirements for aviators, the 1950s saw a strong demand for diving watches. Whether for professionals, enthusiasts or sportsmen, nautical activities were booming and needed to be reliable for a then almost unexploited underwater world.SuperOcean Slow MotionThis new model with its black dial and three-row steel bracelet is based on the aesthetics of the original 1960s version of the SuperOcean Slow Motion. This term comes from an invention made by Willy Breitling at the time. Its main objective is perfect and safe readability underwater, whatever the depth of the dive. According to him, a minute counter is too small and does not ensure easy reading underwater at a glance, so he decided to use the main hand of the chronograph to indicate the diving time. To do this, Willy Breitling created a unique new calibre called “Slow Motion”. This term comes from the fact that the hand used for diving goes around the dial in slow motion, i.e. in one hour instead of one minute. Hence the rather clever name of the SuperOcean Slow Motion. In briefThis 46 mm re-edition mounted on a 3-row stainless steel bracelet is also available on a comfortable black rubber strap and in blue. This novelty is equipped with a patented locking system on the bidirectional rotating bezel, which prevents the measurement of time under water from being distorted. Equipped with the Manufacture 17 calibre, this watch will be your most faithful ally at sea and in everyday life.
