Description
The Tokyo Lion series welcomes a new Spring Drive GMT timepieceThe storyIn 2019, Grand Seiko unveiled a new series of timepieces within the Sport collection, with a bold case structure and distinct, angular lugs: a design known as the “Tokyo Lion”. In 2023, two first non-limited references were presented, and today the Tokyo Lion series welcomes a third Spring Drive GMT model bearing the reference SBGE307.The lion, from historic emblem to singular designWhen the first Grand Seiko was presented in 1960, its caseback featured a lion in relief, reflecting Grand Seiko’s ambition to create the “queen of watches” with precision, durability and beauty at the forefront. Since then, this majestic symbol has remained the brand’s emblem. This timepiece adopts bold design codes established for the first time in 2019, and owes its distinctive shape to its prominent lugs, alternating meticulously Zaratsu-polished and hand-brushed surfaces, meeting in sharp edges. While the robust, angular case, reminiscent of a lion’s claws, conveys the animal’s strength, the delicate “mane” pattern dial captures its beauty, with warm ivory hues.A timepiece dedicated to active lifeMade from the brand’s exclusive lightweight alloy, High-Intensity Titanium, and water-resistant to 20 bar, this timepiece is designed to guarantee the highest possible level of performance in all sporting situations. In addition to its superior strength and lightness, it has been specially designed to fit perfectly on the wrist, thanks to its curved lugs and low center of gravity. The bracelet has also been designed for greater comfort, with short H-shaped links that hug the wrist perfectly in all circumstances, as well as an adjustable folding clasp. The watch is powered by the Spring Drive GMT 9R66 caliber, which, with a precision of ±15 seconds per month and a 72-hour power reserve, enables a second time zone to be tracked thanks to a dedicated hand, playing with the 24-hour graduated bezel. To maximize time legibility in all light conditions, the hands, indexes and bezel markings are coated with LumiBrite. Two different tones make it easy to quickly read one time zone or the other.
